BSO ENCORE RECITALS

The Encore BSO Recitals series reprises programming initially recorded and streamed this past summer for the Tanglewood 2020 Online Festival. Vivian Choi appears in this program with the Boston Symphony Chamber Players in works by Poulenc and Brahms.

HAROLD SHAPERO ORCHESTRAL WORKS

Known as the nation’s foremost label launched by an orchestra and devoted exclusively to new music, Grammy Award-winning BMOP/sound today announced the release of Harold Shapero: Orchestral Works, led by conductor Gil Rose and performed by the intrepid Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP) and pianist Vivian Choi.

Marking the 100th anniversary of Shapero’s birth, this portrait album of the composer’s orchestral music features five works that harmonize tradition and modernity in a distinct American neo-classical style. Click here to view details.

APRA AMCOS ART MUSIC AWARD FINALIST

APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre have announced the finalists for the 10th Art Music Awards – an annual event celebrating achievements in the fields of composition, performance, education and presentation of Australian art music.

Kate Moore’s Piano Concerto ‘Beatrice’ is named a Finalist in the Work of the Year: Large Ensemble (previously Orchestral Work of the Year) category, which was given its world premiere by Vivian Choi and Willoughby Symphony Orchestra in 2019.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, this year’s presentation will go digital, streaming online as a virtual event on September 8.
